Troon, a fine links experience nestling on the Ayrshire coast contains one of the fairest short holes on the Open circuit. The short 8th hole, (127 yards, par 3) has a reputation all of its own. The real name for the hole is the 'Ailsa', for from the pulpit tee a fine view across the water to the island can be hade, but the meagreness of the target at short range has caused it to be called the 'postage stamp'. Surrounded by bunkers, it has lost and won many Open championships to would-be challengers!
