Hugh Dodd - Golf Artist

Hugh Dodd , the Scottish artist, illustrator and writer, grew up in the renowned golf country of Scotland's East Lothian coast. This stretch of land, spreading east from the capital city of Edinburgh is home to 21 golf courses including Muirfield, the world famous Open championship course (which will host the Senior British Open from July 26th - 29th 2007). This costal area also takes in the world's oldest course at Musselburgh Links (where hickory clubs are still used), to the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers at Muirfield, the oldest club in the world, formed in 1744. With the addition of two new courses at Archerfield and one at The Renaissance, bordering Muirfield's 5th hole, East Lothian is now a compelling golfing destination for golfers worldwide.

His writing takes an authoritive look at the history of golf, golfing pictures, antiques and artefacts and follows some of Scotland's finest players across their favourite links and fairways.

North Berwick Golf Course

The West Links of North Berwick, an Open Championship qualifying course, hosts some of the world's finest and most beloved golf holes. From the course's edge on the 14th 'Perfection' the fairway stretches from west to east to end at the edge of the beach. Directly adjacent is the famous 'Redan', re-created at the National Golf Links of America in New York. From this vantage point you see the elegant facade of the Marine Hotel, with the town, bay and harbour of North Berwick and the Bass Rock beyond.
